Using DVD RAM with LG GSA - H42N
Today I came across an article with lots of praise for the dvd ram. Since my LG GSA - H42N from ca. 2008 can handle dvd rams it made me curious and I thought I'd give it a try. DVD RAM is rewritable up to 100.000 times, highly recommended for important data backups due to its reliability and very easy to handle once you know how. But somehow the world forgot about it and DVD RAM is wrongfully leading a shadowy existence. ( DVD RAM WIKIPEDIA - ENGLISH - GERMAN )
To use with WIN XP, you simply install the driver for LG drives (Version 5.0.2.1 für Windows XP) and uncheck "Activate CD-Record" in
"My Computer/CD-DRIVE/Properties/Record" (Arbeitsplatz/CD-Laufwerk/Eigenschaften/Aufnahme) .
Yes, "uncheck", because otherwise WinXP will use its built in CD recording software and the simple drag & drop won't work.
After a restart, you're ready to use a DVD RAM as easy like a USB Stick or an additional little harddrive. Great for daily backups of the songs you're working on.
